Jim
and Sandy Hagaman are valued StoneBridge grandparents. They joined
the StoneBridge
community in the 2003-04 school year as their
grandson, James Hagaman IV, enrolled in first grade. "We are
hands-on grandparents," says Jim.
Jim and Sandy serve daily as volunteers in the primary school
carpool lane. During the 2003-04 school year, primary school
secretary Suzanne Walton asked the
Hagamans if they
could spend their volunteer time one or two mornings a week in the
carpool
lane. Now Jim and Sandy miss it greatly if they miss a single morning.
"There are immediate prayer opportunities that occur on a daily
basis during
arrival at the primary school," said the Hagamans. They believe that volunteers
have a profound effect on the community of students, down to the youngest child
who
would never
verbalize the significance of their presence. "Sandy and I feel that this
is our ministry to encourage the parents," said Jim, "and to be a grandparent
figure
to
children
who don't get to see their grandparents on a regular basis."
"We
recognize the fiber of Christ woven through the faculty and staff
of this institution," said Jim and Sandy. They
have been very impressed by the teachers' tenderness and
their heart for the work that they are doing with their students.
