Each
year the StoneBridge high school goes on a three-day retreat
in the
fall to set the tone for the year and for the students to get
to know one another in an atmosphere other than the classroom.
This year the High School Retreat took place in Rockbridge,
VA, from September 22nd through the 24th. One hundred and thirty-one
students, 12 faculty members, and 26 parent volunteers participated.
Sixteen of those parents volunteered in the kitchen at the retreat
center, one of which was Paige Going, mother of sophomore Paul
Thomas and freshman
Tiffany.
"I
want to thank the administration, faculty and students for
allowing me the privilege of serving you during the Rockbridge
Retreat. Yes,
the parents do work hard in the kitchen but what you don't
know is how much fun we are having. You can hear the laughter
throughout the kitchen, dining hall and even at the hot tub
as the parents get to know one another and form lasting relationships.
Where else could one go to serve others, spend time with teachers
and parents, watch the Lord at work in our children’s hearts
and observe first hand what sets StoneBridge apart from all other
schools? The offsite retreat for the students and teachers
is a unique opportunity to allow the seniors to mentor the younger
classmates. I was in awe as I listened to the seniors share their
advice during Thursday evening’s service. It was obvious
that StoneBridge is raising the next generation of leaders."
