StoneBridge purposes to engage and change the world for Christ by equipping servant-leaders. Whether in class, out in the community, or on the court, we are challenging our students to think beyond themselves and seek God’s individual purpose for their lives.
Below are just some of the clubs and organizations that foster Christian servant-leadership in StoneBridge students:
Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. What makes Key Club so successful is the fact that it is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities.
National Honor Society
Criteria for Selection to NHS: 94% Cumulative GPA based on StoneBridge academic policies; fulfillment of community service hours requirement; consistent evidence of Christian character and upholding the ethos of StoneBridge School. In order to assess candidates on these criteria each must be enrolled at least three consecutive semesters at StoneBridge High School. The NHS nomination committee may consider students transferring in their junior or senior years who will attend fewer than three semesters at StoneBridge if strong recommendations and evidence of compliance to these criteria can be secured from their previous schools. The considerations and recommendations of the nominating committee are final. In order to remain a member of the NHS, a student must maintain a 94% average and a reputation for Christian character.
Student governors are peer-elected leadership positions open to all high school students. Student elections held at the end of each school year will determine the following year’s class Chairman (12th grade), Treasurer (11th Grade), Vice Chairman (10th Grade), and Scribe (9th Grade).
Prefectships are appointed leadership positions open to all high school students, with eleventh and twelfth graders being given preference over underclassmen. Students apply for prefectships and are selected by faculty and administration in the following areas: Spiritual Life, Hospitality, Athletic, Literary, Worship, Alumni, Property, Social Life, Technical and Historian.
On designated days throughout the school year, all upper school students participate in group service projects. In the past students have served with community organizations such as Goodwill and Operation Blessing.
The StoneBridge mentoring program is designed to connect students with one another and a mentoring teacher in a comfortable, small-group setting. Each group meets daily to study the Bible and build relationships. Since high school students are assigned to groups of varying ages, older students often befriend and mentor younger students. Mentors often host special events for their group or attend their students’ performances and games. As a guide and advocate for his or her students, the mentor cultivates Christian character and servant-leadership.
Student Teacher’s Aide Program
High school students may apply to become a student teacher’s aide. This position allows them to earn credit for assisting lower school teachers with classroom management, tutoring and other daily tasks. This program builds relationships within the school community and trains high school students to become “leaders of character” by giving them increased responsibility in a secure and nurturing environment.
